Since 1989, FDI has been an expert designer and manufacturer of access control, intercom and IoT systems for residential and commercial markets. A subsidiary of Urmet group with a presence in over 35 countries, FDI employs 180 people, including 80 engineers in the design office.
Customized products with Design & Build by FDI
FDI develops both catalog and customized products as part of its Design & Build program. FDI supports its customers from mechanical and electronic design through to series production, and is involved throughout the product development cycle, from:
- Drawing up special specifications,
- Research and development focusing on your specifications or jointly-defined specifications,
- Creation and design of your electronic products,
- Industrializing and producing EMS, electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies,
- Customer service and technical support dedicated to your project.

Every year, FDI invests in its research and development center to stay at the cutting edge of technology. FDI’s design office masters 4 key areas of expertise, enabling it to intervene in all or part of the product life cycle, thanks to :
- Hardware department: for mechanical and electronic design,
- Software department: for software design,
- Web/mobile development unit: for cloud, web and mobile systems…
- Innovation cell: for the monitoring and development of innovative technologies.
FDI site, located in Cholet (49), covers 7,900 m² of which 4,000 m² are dedicated to production and storage. FDI 4.0 production plant, with its 3 latest-generation Mycronic SMT lines, enables FDI to set up and solder over 100 million components per year.
