ANPR : Automatic Number Plate Recognition
ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) is video recognition of vehicle number plates. ANPR is used to provide access to a building or a facility without having to use a special access key or virtual credits. In fact, the ANPR allows access to a defined place by recognizing the license plate of the vehicle of the user authorized to enter it.
How does ANPR work?
To operate, ANPR requires the installation of a camera at the entrance. ANPR is used for:
- Read the license plate number through a video surveillance system,
- Recognize the license plate number,
- Authorize access to the vehicle based on prior registration of the license plate number.
To enable access control by license plate reading, a dedicated activation card must be affiliated with your access control center in charge of regulating access to the vehicle fleet.
What are the benefits of ANPR?
The key advantage of ANPR is that it manages access to enclosed spaces. It is also used for securing and restricting access to these defined places by tailoring the number of credits allocated to the vehicle fleet. The ANPR is very secure because it allows to authorize the access of :
- Residents, permanently
- Employees, on a continuous or temporary basis
- Visitors, temporarily
ANPR also real-time monitors users present on the site and the type of access chosen.
Moreover, the speed of the process for reading the number plates reduces wait time and traffic at car park entrances.
In a more operational way, the management of accesses and access authorizations is simplified because it is done upstream:
- The programming of the accesses can be done beforehand,
- The user accesses are carried out without contact and according to the programming made beforehand.
