In conventional lift access control systems, readers are typically positioned within elevator cabins.
A user initiates the elevator call, enters the cabin, presents their key or pass, and selects the desired floor. The buttons corresponding to accessible floors illuminate only after the user has authenticated with their key or pass.
For residents, the buttons for their respective floors and the car park level are activated. However, for a caretaker, all floors may be accessible.
The iPassan controller provides a dry contact for each floor and elevator. In a building with 40 floors and 4 elevators, you will need a total of 120 iPassan relays to connect to the elevator controller.
Integration with Otis EMS follows the same model as traditional elevators. In this case, communication between the access control system and the elevator relies on Modbus TCP/IP.
In the above example, the 120 iPassan relays are no longer necessary.
The integration of Kone Cop requires no additional equipment. The number of floors covered by the activation code corresponds to the controller. For instance, a 200-floor activation card can fulfill the requirements of a controller overseeing 4 elevators across 50 floors.
