OTIS EMS 100-floor – Activation card

Description

In the case of conventional lift access control management, the readers are located in the lifts.

In a building, the user uses the lift to get to his home. He holds the button for the lift, climbs in and tags. The buttons corresponding to the authorised floors light up after the user has logged in and can then select his or her destination floor.

In the situation of a resident, only his living floor and the parking floor are illuminated. Conversely, for a guard who needs full access to the building, all floors are permitted and illuminated.

The iPassan central unit makes one dry contact per floor and per lift. If, for example, a 40-storey building consists of four lifts, 120 iPassan relays have to be connected to the lift controller.

The Otis EMS integration is based on the same model as conventional lifts. It is the communication between the access control and the lift that differs as it is based on Modbus Tcp/ip. To refer to the previous example, the 120 iPassan relays are no longer necessary thanks to this integration.

The Kone Cop integration makes this possible without additional hardware. The number of floors included in the activation code is counted per plant. In this way, a 200-floor activation card can cover the need for a control centre supporting 4 lifts of 50 floors.
